Every season I encounter a new challenge, learn about it, solve the issue and level up my gardening skills.
I fear the 2023-24 growing season was almost wasted dealing with pest problems way too late, the worst of which was Tomato Russet Mite. I know a lot more about it now and am ready to pounce on it if it raises its ugly head this 2024-25 season.
Spider mite was another pest I learnt about over the season, and while it wasn't as damaging, it certainly affected the productivity mainly of my cucumbers in the polytunnel.
So thanks to YouTubers, such as Anthony from Sydney Backyard Veggies, I have geared up with some wettable sulphur ready to knock those pests out as soon as I see a trace of them.
It's very quick to mix up a small spray bottle and hit the leaves/plants wherever they are evident - or even pre-emptively on all plants if one plant is showing possible signs.
Just try that again, you wascally mites!
